The Book
Wild Alberta at the Crossroads is about our children’s heritage. It traces the authors’ seven-year journey through the mountains, foothills, grasslands, parkland, boreal forest, and Canadian Shield.
The outstanding photography and inspiring stories encourage everyone to get out and enjoy Alberta’s glorious wildlands and wildlife.
But enjoying Nature is no longer enough. Albertan citizens are the owners and custodians of a landscape and wildlife heritage facing unprecedented pressures from rampant extractive industry, urban sprawl, overconsumption, and unsustainable growth. It is urgent that we pause, rethink our relationship with Nature, develop a vision and plan for an ecologically sustainable future, and then carry out that plan.
The book shows what is at stake, the major environmental issues, and how, together, we can and must become actively involved in ecologically sustainable solutions. How vigorously we take up this challenge and put Alberta’s house in order will determine our legacy – and our children’s future.
